Rane Eden
Hi, my name is Stephen Faulkenberry, but like Samuel Clemens and a host of others throughout history, I wanted to go by a different name for my writing. Rane Eden is the name of a character from one of my unfinished stories, and I loved it enough to use it as a pen name.
I am a software developer by trade who is passionate about faith, writing, coding, science fiction, art, video games and board games. Universes like Alan Wake, BioShock, Half-Life and Mass Effect showed me that games are as powerful as books. The Talos Principle, Antichamber and The Witness challenged me with mystery and the surreal. Factorio makes it way into my brain when I feel like working without making any money.
My favorite book series is the space trilogy by C.S. Lewis (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength), an odd intersection of faith and science fiction. Isaac Asimov's combined Robots, Empire, and Foundation series made me think about the lasting efforts of government and science. Books in the Culture series by Iain M. Banks were my first interaction with larger-than-life AI. Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley is just pure fun. I will read almost anything by Philip K. Dick.
I started dreaming up worlds when I was 5 years old and never stopped. You can download my stories to read but please follow the rules before sharing. Thank you for reading my work!
